About Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Emotional Sensitivity
What is holistic mental health?
Social workers view the person in their environment. Rather than focusing simply on one’s emotional and psychological life, holistic mental health views all parts of the person as components of their mental health. Numerous studies have shown that one of the best and most immediate ways to ease depression is to exercise – a direct and proven link between the body, the mind, and the inner emotional life. What happens for forty-five minutes in a therapist’s office is only a portion of what is necessary for building a more positive life. What we think and what we do shape our world. When we change our thoughts and our actions, we have the ability to make our lives better, both our emotional life and the way we interact with the world around us. Empowering clients to take charge of every portion of their life and make small, healthy, mindful, and supported changes toward better mental, emotional, and physical health is my vision and my mission.
